German tracks open to foreign teams

Dresden (pps) After technical problems prevented the early refrigeration of the Olympic track in Cesana, Italy, the German federation (BSD) decided to support foreign teams by offering them short notice auxiliary training sessions on Germany’s four artificial tracks. „This is an act of international solidarity”, Thomas Schwab, the Secretary General and Sport Director of the Bobsleigh and Sled Federation for Germany (BSD) explained at a season opener press conference held in Dresden.

Beneficiaries of this measure include the national teams of Italy and Japan; they will be granted training time on the track in Winterberg from October 16 on. Austria’s national team will train on the artificially refrigerated track in Königssee beginning October 26. Various bobsleigh and skeleton teams will also benefit from the BSD’s support measure.
