Mainz (pps) The first Viessmann World Cup of the 2006/2007 season held in Cesana Pariol, Italy, has achieved outstanding television ratings. Last Sunday, almost two million television viewers watched the German television station ZDF when Italy’s Olympic champion Armin Zöggeler won his 31st World Cup competition. This comes up to a market share of 12.7 per cent. A better rating was only achieved by the sport coverage of the 4x10 km relay competition in men’s crosscountry skiing on ZDF that same day, also with a market share of 12.7 percent. Ratings for women’s singles (market share of 8.0) and doubles (market share of 10.9) races were also remarkable. ZDF coverage on the season’s start at the 2006 Olympic track added up to more than two hours. Both German television station ARD and Eurosport will cover the next event of the Viessman World Cup series in Park City/USA.
