Preparations for the FIL Alpine Luge World Cup are in full swing. In mid-October, the organisers of the World Cup stages gathered for a joint meeting in Vipiteno/Sterzing (ITA).

Andreas Castiglioni informed about the upcoming season
FIL (Vipiteno/14.10.2025) – The 2025/2026 World Cup winter season is just around the corner. To ensure that the races run smoothly at the World Cup venues, the luge clubs were brought up to date. Representatives from SC Obdach Rodel Section, A.S.C. Laas Raiffeisen, SV Umhausen, ASV Deutschnofen Raiffeisen, RV Passeier and ASV Jaufental were present. FIL Sports Director Andreas Castiglioni first provided information on the race calendar, the planned broadcast schedule for the livestreams and the updates to the guidelines for organisers of FIL Alpine Luge World Cups and Championships.
Another point of discussion concerned advertising regulations and advertising spaces, as both the organisers and the FIL have designated areas available for their respective sponsors during a World Cup. “Accommodation for officials and camera crews is always a logistical challenge for organisers. It is important to set uniform arrival and departure dates in order to coordinate bookings.” The template for the race schedule for the 2025/2026 season was also presented. At the request of the athletes’ representatives, the award ceremony for the Nations Cup will be removed; however, the Nations Cup will remain part of the overall ranking and points will still be awarded. “In future, only the top five positions in the World Cup will be honoured during the prize-giving ceremony, which will streamline the proceedings. We need to enhance future ceremonies to ensure they reflect the level of the races,” emphasised Castiglioni, who also addressed the topics of photographers, social media, and press.
