Second win of the season for Pigneter/Clara

Latsch (PMA) Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara won the doubles event of the second Luge World Cup on Natural Track at Latsch in Italy. The two Italians are dominating the event from the first training run until the final run of the competition. At the qualification they built the foundation for their victory on home soil.

New in this season is, that a World Cup race is decided in only one competition run. Although the time gap of the qualification will be added to the result. Pigneter/Clara are dominating the whole weekend. Only at the last sector of the track in their final run the were loosing some time. The two Italians won the event with a big lead.

“Everything is running smooth at the doubles event. We are in a perfect shape and we have the best equipment. Especially in this area we closed the gap and earned us a top position", explained Pigneter. Second place went to Russia and Pavel Porshnev and Ivan Lazarev. While it was the 50th career podium for Pigneter/Clara, the Russian collected their 57th podium. Austrian Rupert Brüggler and Tobias Angerer finished third ahead of their team-mates Christoph Regensburger and Dominik Holzknecht. „We are very happy with our podium finish. We like the current temperatures and we are fast when the weather isn't that cold. The biggest challenge at the moment is the qualification for the race within the team", desribed Tobias Angerer.
