Selina Egle and Lara Kipp rack up victory after victory

Altenberg (FIL/11 Jan 2025) Selina Egle and Lara Kipp are racing from victory to victory in the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup. In Altenberg, the women's doubles from Austria won their fourth race in a row. Only at the season opener in Lillehammer the Americans Chevonne Forgan and Sophia Kirkby triumphed.
Egle/Kipp set the best time in both runs, taking 1:25.077 minutes for the two runs. “We are still benefiting from the many training runs in the run-up to last year's World Championships,” revealed front woman Selina Egle, “we feel really confident on the track.” This was particularly evident in the exit from curve nine. All their competitors had problems there.

In the first run Jessica Degenhardt/Cheyenne Rosenthal hit two walls there, in the second run Forgan/Kirkby did. “Curve nine is so tricky”, Forgan judged. The German duo's mistakes did not have the same impact as those of the US team. Degenhardt/Rosenthal were ultimately 0.397 seconds behind Egle/Kipp, Forgan/Kirkby 0.556.
Behind them came two Latvian doubles. The young duo Marta Robezniece/Kitija Bogdanova (0.582 seconds back) were ahead of Anda Upite/Zane Kaluma (0.719) for the fourth time this season. Behind them, Dajana Eitberger/Magdalena Matschina (0.994) came in sixth. And again, the second German double did not go without problems. At the start, Eitberger's strap tore. “This season I have more bad luck than in my entire career before,” said the silver medalist of the 2018 Olympic Games. And she smiled painfully.
