Boston (pps) The Executive Board of the International Luge Federation, FIL, has appointed Switzerland’s Sepp Benz as temporary successor to Karl Zenker of Zwickau. The Chairman of the Sport Commission (artificial track) had died on July 7. The new election for this position will be carried out during the 2008 FIL Congress in Calgary, Canada.
At the 1980 Olympic bobsleigh competitions in Lake Placid, brakeman Sepp Benz and driver Erich Schaerer took the gold medal in the two-man. Benz captured four World championship titles: in 1975 in the four-man and in 1978, 1979, 1980 in the two-man.
