The FIL Luge World Cup on natural track continued on Saturday in Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente (ITA) with the doubles and women’s singles races. The series winners Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara (ITA) and Evelin Lanthaler (ITA) also prevailed at the fourth competition.

Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara (ITA) continued their winning streak on the 785 meter long "Pföslriep"-track. The record winners celebrated their fourth win of the season in the fourth race and the 64th world cup victory of her carreer. In 1:55.33 minutes they relegated the brothers Patrick Lambacher/Matthias Lambacher (ITA) to second place by 0.47 seconds, It was the first podium finish of the season for the reigning european champions. Third place went to the Russians Pavel Porshnev/Ivan Lazarev (+0.58 seconds). Two weeks before the European Championships in Laas/Lasa (ITA), Porshnev/Lazarev are in improving form. In the second race, the experienced sqad set the best time and pushed cousins Fabian Achenrainer/Simon Achenrainer (AUT/+0.70) off the podium.

"Today was hard work, the first run was good, but we didn't show our best performance in the second run," analyzed Patrick Pigneter self-critically.
Pigneter/Clara lead the overall standings after four of seven races with a maximum of 400 points, ahead of Achenrainer/Achenrainer (285) and Porshnev/Lazarev (225).
There was also a home win in the women's singles. Series winner Evelin Lanthaler (ITA) achieved her fourth win of the season in 1:48.98 minutes, celebrating her 35th World Cup victory. With a very good performance in the second run, the Russian Ekaterina Lavrenteva improved from third place to second place, for the reigning vice-world champion it is the first podium finish of the season. Local hero Greta Pinggera (ITA) improved from fifth to third place, while Lisa Walch (GER) dropped from second to fifth.
“The girls don't sleep, especially in the second run the gaps were very small. Even the smallest mistake costs a lot of time on this track. Now I'm looking forward to the European Championships in Lasa in two weeks. I want to defend my title there”, Lanthaler specifies the route.

In the overall standings, Lanthaler is clearly in the lead after four victories this season with a maximum of 400 points, followed by Walch and Pinggera in second place with 295 points.
