Nagano (pps) History can repeat itself. In 1998 Silke Karaushaar first won the national german title, then the European Championships and finally olympic gold in Nagano. Now she fulfilled once more all conditions. At the 37th World Championsships she won gold for the very first time.br>
Silke Kraushaar, only fourth after the first run, set in the second run a new track record (49,744 seconds) and finally won in a total time one minute 39,611. Barbara Niedernhuber took the silver medal (1:39,653). Bronze went to Sylke Otto (1:39,860). USA`s Ashely Hayden finished on 6th place, best result ever for her.
