Königssee (pps) Former Olympic Champion Silke Kraushaar, the Olympic Champions from Salt Lake City Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch (Germany) and Austria`s Markus Kleinheinz are the names of the winners of the first part of the European Open in Luge at Königssee.
Silke Kraushaar won with a new track record of 48.533 seconds, followed by Olympic Champion Sylke Otto (48.559), Olympic silver medallist Barbara Niedernhuber (48.635) and Austria´s Sonja Manzenreiter (49.161).
In the doubles competition, Leitner/Resch achieved the victory also with a new track record (48.113) followed by Austria`s Wolfgang Linger/Andreas Linger (48.604), Lubomir Mick/Walter Marx (SVK/48.637) and Italy`s Christian Oberstolz/Patrick Gruber (48.660).
Kleinheinz (48,248) won the men`s race follwed by his teammate Rainer Margreiter (48.471) and Germany´s David Möller (48.477) and Karsten Albert (48.813). Olympic Champion Armin Zöggeler from Italy missed the final just like three-time Olympic Champion Georg Hackl (Germany).
