India is planning a natural luge track in the Himalayas

Manali/India (pps) A natural luge track will be built in the Himalaya Mountains. As India’s three-time Olympian Shiva Keshavan reported to the International Luge Federation (FIL) in a letter, an agreement has been reached with the „Himalaya Ski Village“ in Manali for the development of a natural luge track. Keshavan, former bronze medalist at the Asian Games, has asked the FIL for technical support and expert assistance for the project. „I have already found a suitable site for the track on a private property“, wrote Keshavan.

According to information from Keshavan, the Indian government does not even disapprove the construction of an artificial track. India is currently investing 200 million US Dollars on the development of a skiing area in the Himalayas, the world’s highest mountain range.

At the beginning of July, the first summer luge camp had been held in the Himalayas. On the initiative of Keshavan, altogether 52 young people had participated in the five-day training course in Manali.
