Record World Champion Armin Zoeggeler to continue career until Sochi 2014
Voellan (pps) Record World Champion Armin Zoeggeler will continue his luge career until the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. “Of course I need to brace myself but I want to keep on going for the next two years until Sochi. I still enjoy luging,” explained the two-time Olympic Champion at home in Voellan (Italy) to the German news agency DPA (Deutsche Presse-Agentur).
20 years after his first Olympic medal (he won a total of two gold, one silver and two bronze medals), the 38-year-old intends to achieve a sixth Olympic podium finish at the 2014 Winter Games. Zoeggeler: “This would be the icing on the cake”.
Decisive for Zoeggeler’s were his impressions during the first test runs on the future Olympic luge track. “If I would have realized at the start or in the track that I had no chance at all I would not have continued my career,” Zoeggeler said.
