Berchtesgaden (pps) Georg Hackl from Berchtesgaden had surely not imagined his new life after his luge career to begin like this. Approximately one month after he ended his career at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin, the three-time Olympic champion suffered a serious knee injury in a ski crash. According to his manager Rudi Größwang it is very likely that he has torn his cruciate ligament. The 39 years old former athlete is right now in Freising with Dr. Volker Jägemann for a first examination. Jägemann is the leading team doctor of the German Bobsleigh and Luge Federation (BSD).
Hackl had ended his unique career in Turin after three gold and two silver medals at Olympic Winter Games. He had planned to start his coaching education at the coaches’ acedemy in Cologne at the end of April.
