The incredibly quantity of fresh snow is a big challenge for the International Luge Federation FIL and the organizing committees of the Luge World Cup on Natural Track in Styria. Therefor a short-term program change is necessary.

24 hours of consultation between the organizing committees in Styria and the International Luge Federation FIL lead to the decision to relocate the Luge World Cup on Natural Track from Sankt Sebastian to Obdach-Winterleiten. This makes a small change in the schedule necessary: the race for doubles, single-seater women and men's  were re-scheduled on Friday, January 11th and Saturday, January 12th. The second stop of the Luge World Cup on Natural Track will take place on the 2018 European Championship track. "I would like to express my thanks to all concerned for this fast and unbureaucratic decision. The only alternative would have been the cancellation of the World Cup in Styria, to prevent this we have succeeded in in the last minute, "said FIL-Vice President Peter Knauseder. About 100 athletes from 19 countries are registered for the World Cup in Styria.
