Speed found again: Wolfgang Kindl dominates also in sprint

BMW Sprint Men, Innsbruck

Innsbruck (FIL) Wolfgang Kindl is the outstanding luger at the EBERSPÄCHER World Cup in Innsbruck-Igls. The Austrian finished second in the individual on Saturday and won the BMW Sprint World Cup race on Sunday.

Satisfied, the 33-year-old stated: "I've got real speed again at the moment, I've lost it a bit in the last few years." Therefore, he admitted, he had doubted himself a little. However, there can be no question of that after his performances on his home track. Second went to Kindl's compatriot Jonas Müller (0.040 sec. back) ahead of Johannes Ludwig (0.147). The World Cup leader respected the performances of his competitors: "In the sprint run I had a few too many mistakes compared to the Austrians, who did very well again."

Eggert / Benecken BMW-Sprint-Weltcup

Madeleine Egle was not dissatisfied with her second place in the individual, but the Tyrolean was completely at peace with herself after the sprint, in which she was 0.050 seconds faster than her permanent rival Julia Taubitz. "Now it worked out with the victory at home", Egle cheered, "I simply copied Wolfi". Taubitz's compatriot Anna Berreiter came third.

The German double Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken also got revenge in the BMW Sprint World Cup. "It's a little satisfaction," admitted steersman Eggert, "a day like yesterday gives you food for thought, even if you know deep down inside that you classify yourself differently than 13th place." Second, 0.055 seconds behind, were the World Cup leading brothers Andris and Juris Sics (Latvia) ahead of Thomas Steu and Lorenz Koller (0.065). The Austrians had triumphed in the individual race on Saturday.
