Sprint World Champion Jonas Müller tastes first Viessmann Luge World Cup success

Innsbruck (RWH) A new winner for a new season – Sprint World Champion Jonas Müller of Austria has won the season-opening Viessmann World Cup men’s race. The 2016 Junior European Champion celebrated his first singles victory in the Viessmann World Cup on the 1976 Olympic track.

Second place went to Russia’s Roman Repilov. In spring-like temperatures, the overall World Cup winner of the 2016/2017 season improved from 17th after the first run to end up second overall. Third was the Italian Dominik Fischnaller. World Champion Felix Loch of Germany lost dropped three positions in the second round to wind up sixth. Aleksandr Gorbatcevich (RUS), who held the runner-up spot at half-time, dropped down the order after a series of mistakes.

Next weekend, the Viessmann Luge World Cup moves to Lake Placid, NY, where the first BMW Sprint World Cup of the season is on the agenda.
