Winterberg (pps) South Korea, host of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, will rely on know-how “made in Germany” to prepare its lugers for the Games. With immediate effect Steffen Sartor will be coach of the team from Asia. His contract ends in 2018.

Steffen Sartor is married to Diana Sartor, who placed fourth twice in the Olympic Games in skeleton. Steffen took the name of his wife while he is better known under his name Steffen Skel on the luge circuit.

Together with his doubles partner Steffen Woeller, the now 41-year-old claimed a fourth place finish at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City as well as two World silver medals. Additionally, the team won the 2004 European Championship title and earned one overall World Cup victory.

After having ended his active career, Sartor worked as coach with the Canadian Olympic luge team, the German Boblseigh and Sled Sports Federation and, last year, with the Swiss federation.
