Innsbruck (RWH) The titles at the sixth U23 World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) have been won by Summer Britcher (USA), Russia’s Roman Repilov, and the doubles paring of Thomas Steu-Lorenz Koller (AUT). The medal-winners were decided in a race-in-race format at the 47th World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL).

In the women’s race, Summer Britcher from the USA relegated Germany’s defending champion Julia Taubitz to second place. Russia’s Victoria Demchenko equalled last year’s result to again claim bronze. She is the daughter of Albert Demchenko, who won three silver medals at the Olympic Games.

In addition to silver in the men’s race, Roman Repilov also clinched gold in the U23 championship battle. Silver went to Austrian slider Armin Frauscher, who won bronze last year. The Italian Theo Gruber came third in Innsbruck.

Thomas Steu-Lorenz Koller achieved a home win in the doubles. Italy’s Florian Gruber-Simon Kainzwaldner, who won gold on the same track at the 2012 Youth Olympic Games, claimed silver this time round. The Latvian pairing of Kristens Putins-Imants Marcinkevics took bronze.
