On the legendary "Grantau-track" in Umhausen (AUT) the fourth race of the FIL luge Junior World Cup on natural track came to an end on Sunday – with some surprises.
In the men's singles, Fabian Brunner (ITA) set the fastest time in both runs on the 955 meter long track. Last year's overall winner celebrated his first win of the season in 2:31.70 minutes. Miguel Brugger (AUT/+0.33 seconds) and Daniel Gruber (ITA/+0.51 seconds) follow in places of honor. Gruber, who won the first three races of the season, clearly decided the overall standings with 370 points, ahead of Brunner (310 points) and Brugger (275 points).

There was a premiere winner in the women's singles with Katharina Hofer (ITA). With a time of 2:37.10 minutes, the 16-year-old from Passiria prevailed against Riccarda Ruetz (AUT/+0.23 seconds), third place for Sarah Schiller (GER/+0.90 seconds). With two victories this season and two second places, Ruetz also won the overall World Cup with 370 points, ahead of Ivonne Müller (ITA) with 265 points and Schiller with 255 points.

On the other hand, there were no surprises in the doubles: The Italians Anton Gruber Genetti/Hannes Unterholzner continued their impressive winning streak and also won the fourth and last race of the Junior World Cup. Their team-mates Alex Oberhofer/Andreas Hofer followed in second place, 0.24 seconds behind, with the Slovaks Peter Neupauer/Dominik Neupauer (+0.78 seconds) third. With the maximum of 400 points, Gruber Genetti/Unterholzner also got the overall ranking, ahead of Neupauer/Nepauer (280 points) and the Slovenians Matevz Vertelj/Vid Kralj (240 points).
The season for the young athletes is not over yet, from February 4th to 6th the 13th FIL luge Junior World Championships on natural track are scheduled in Jaufental/Val di Giovo (ITA).
