The World Champions of Nagano won the Suzuki Challenge Cup in the Saxon Altenberg for the season’s opening. The Vice World Champions Andre Florschütz/Torsten Wustlich established themselves in the doubles discipline. Silke Kraushaar (54,544 seconds) beats Ukrainian Natalia Yakushenko (55,975) in the women final. In the men’s discipline, David Möller (56,045) banished the Austrian Markus Kleinheinz (56,048) with an advance of three thousandths seconds to rank two in the final run. The former Olympia Champion Georg Hackl was dropped out against David Möller in the semi-final, he got rank three. The multiple World Champion and Olympia winner of Salt Lake City Armin Zöggeler from Italy already failed in the preliminary round. In the doubles discipline, Florschütz/Wustlich (42,781) defeated the Austrian Ex World Champions Andreas Linger/Wolfgang Linger (42,855) in the final round. The Vice World Champions improved the eight years old starting record of the Olympia Champions Stefan Krauße/ Jan Behrendt in semi final.
