Winterberg (pps) On Sunday, December 9, the SUZUKI Team Relay, established last year, will be carried out in Winterberg. It is quite clear already, that the innovative competition is a great success. “It has made a great impact”, concluded Helmut Kardaetz, Executive Director of the International Luge Federation, FIL, after two test competitions last year and the successful season’s opener in Lake Placid, USA.

“The public and – that’s what really matters to me – the athletes have really responded positively to the three competitions”, explained Thomas Schwab, one of the “founding fathers” of the event. “Now it’s important that we can trim the competition towards the World Cup series thus giving it an even greater value. Eventually, it will become impossible to think about the competition calendar without SUZUKI Team Relay.”

Following their victory in front of a home-crowd in Lake Placid, the US relay team is now heading the rankings. According to the rules, the US relay team will therefore be the last team to start, thus creating even more suspense.
