Oberhof (pps) Sylke Otto, most successful luger in the women’s single, will be seen off during the FIL Luge World Championships in Oberhof. Only minutes before the first run in the women’s singles on Friday, January 25, 2008, the two-time Olympic and four-time World Championship winner will once again be in the limelight.
On January 12, 2007, Sylke Otto had ended her active luge career, on May 29, 2007 she gave birth to daughter Sina. Boasting two Olympic victories, four World Championships titles, four overall Viessmann Luge World Cup victories as well as the record number of 37 individual wins in the Viessmann Luge World Cup she can confidently be regarded as the most successful women’s luger of all times.
