Berchtesgaden (pps) Tatjana Huefner and Felix Loch will be heading the German team at the Viessmann Luge World Cup season opener in Innsbruck-Igls (Austria) on November 24-25, 2012. Apart from the Olympic and four-time World champion as well as five-time overall World Cup winner Huefner, the German colors will be represented by Olympic and World bronze medalist Natalie Geisenberger as well as Anke Wischnewski. There is a battle for the fourth starting place between European bronze medalist Corinna Martini and Aileen Frisch who made a clean gold medal sweep at all 2011-2012 junior events (World and European Championships as well as overall junior World Cup). In the men’s singles Germany’s head coach Norbert Loch is putting faith in Felix Loch (2010 Olympic and three-time World champion), Andi Langenhan (two World bronze medals) and David Moeller (two-time World champion and Olympic silver medalist) as they were the top-three lugers, respectively, in the overall 2011-2012 Viessmann Luge World Cup. Additionally, Loch nominated Johannes Ludwig, World Cup fifth-place, and Ralf Palik, sixth-place in the overall World Cup. The overall World Cup runners-up Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt and the World silver medalists Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken have already claimed spots in the field. The third starting place will alternate - at the season’s opener in Innsbruck-Igls Nico Gruessner-Toni Foertsch will compete whereas Daniel Rothamel-Chris Rohmeiss will get a chance to show their potential at the second Viessmann Luge World Cup. Robin Geueke-David Gamm will then represent Germany in Altenberg.
