Koenigssee (pps) Olympic champion Tatjana Huefner is taking great strides towards her next record. Thanks to her 25th individual victory the two-time World champion is heading the overall Viessmann Luge World Cup rankings with 400 points, the highest number of points possible. With this lead of 110 points after four of altogether nine World Cup events, her competitors can only hope for some serious mistakes by Huefner. Otherwise it seems to be a foregone conclusion that she will earn her fourth consecutive overall victory. So far, only Austria’s Angelika Schafferer (1978-1979, 1979-1980 and 1980) achieved three overall victories in succession – and two-time World champion Huefner. Both with 290 points to their credit Huefner’s team-mates Anke Wischnewski and Natalie Geisenberger are tied for second place. World champion Erin Hamlin (USA/226 points) holds fourth place ahead of Alex Gough (206) of Canada.
