Team Austria wins in Altenberg and in the Relay World Cup
EBERSPAECHER Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW – 2025/2026 finals
Altenberg (FIL/08 Mar 2026) With its second victory of the season in the EBERSPAECHER Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW, Austria also won the overall standings with 540 points.
In Altenberg, Lisa Schulte, Thomas Steu/Wolfgang Kindl, David Gleirscher, and Selina Egle/Lara Kipp also set a track record of 3:11.454 minutes. “Team Austria's success is fantastic. I was only able to contribute a small part to it, just today in one race, and unfortunately my performance wasn't quite up to scratch. But over the whole season, our team has performed extremely well, so the success is well deserved, and we are all really happy,” said David Gleirscher after the race.
Ukraine (Yulianna Tunytska, Danyil Martsinovskyi/Bohdan Babura, Andriy Mandziy, Olena Stetskiv/Oleksandra Mokh; 3.189 seconds behind) ahead of Romania (Ioana-Corina Buzatoiu, Vasile Gitlan/Darius-Lucian Serban, Valentin Cretu, Raluca Stramaturaru/Mihaela-Carmen Manolescu; 4.908) and Poland (Klaudia Domaradzka, Wojciech Chmielewski/Michal Gancarczyk, Mateusz Sochowicz, Nikola Domowicz/Dominika Piwkowska; 4.959).
For the second time this season, the German team failed to finish. This time, start driver Merle Fräbel missed the touchpad.
The EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup 2025/2026 season came to an end in bright sunshine and perfect track conditions.
