Cesana (pps) A small team of just three athletes will represent Olympic host Canada at the final of the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Cesana, Italy, next week-end (January 30-31, 2010). Alex Gough, currently on ninth place on the overall rankings, Sam Edney (17th place overall) and Jeff Christie (25th place overall), hope to secure themselves a good starting place in the seeded group of lugers at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver on February 12-28, 2010.

The results of the past three Viessmann Luge World Cup events in Winterberg (January 9-10) Oberhof (January 16-17) and Cesana, Italy (January 30-31) are decisive for the seeded group of lugers. The better the starting place in the seeded group, the more „favourable“ the starting number at the Olympic Winter Games.
