St. Moritz-Celerina (FIL/19.02.2023) At the end of the World Cup weekend at the Olympic Bobrun St. Moritz-Celerina, the fifth of six team relays in the EBERSPÄCHER Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW took place on the program. The German quartet with Dajana Eitberger, Max Langenhan and Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt celebrated their 45th Team Relay World Cup victory on the world's only natural ice track.

Team Germany, which won all five disciplines of this World Cup stop, won with a total time of 2:51.301 minutes ahead of Team USA with Emily Sweeney, Tucker West and the double Zachary Di Gregorio/Sean Hollander (+0.254 sec.) and Team Austria with Madeleine Egle, Nico Gleirscher and the double Thomas Steu/Lorenz Koller (+0.415 sec.).

The team relays from Latvia, Poland, Romania and China finished fourth to seventh. The Italian team was disqualified after the failed start of their double.

“Germany and Latvia had the best material set-up today and therefore the fastest sleds. Thanks to Latvia it was enough for us to make it to the podium,” explained Austria's Madeleine Egle. Team mate Nico Gleirscher said that he watched the women's race carefully, especially how to run the Horse Shoe, because there were the most problems today.

Satisfied with his team is German national coach Norbert Loch. “Everyone did an excellent job here, not only my athletes but all coaches and support staff. In the team relay Max has weakened for the third time and I am now slowly raising the index finger, but he will accept this criticism. You saw it with the Latvians - there are three sleds in the team, and everyone can make a mistake at some point. It's the entirety that counts. Dajana showed well, and the Tobis handled it excellently in the end.”

After three second places in a row, with this victory Germany took the lead in the overall ranking of the EBERSPÄCHER Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW and heads the ranking with 455 points ahead of Latvia (415 p.) and the USA (265 p.).

Held this way since the 2010/11 season, it was the 45th World Cup victory in the Team Relay for the German team. No nation comes close to this success. Russia follows in the FIL statistics with 12 and Italy with seven relay victories. The World Championship bronze medalists Latvia, who have already won two Team Relays this season, have achieved a total of five victories.
