The hottest phase on ice begins today in Cortina d'Ampezzo
Cortina (FIL/27 Oct 27, 2025) Today, October 27, 2025, marks exactly 40 days until the start of the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup in Innsbruck/Igls, and today also marks the start of the first International Training Period (ITP) on the new Olympic track “Pista Olympica Eugenio Monti” in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
During this two-week training phase, the world’s luge elite will officially take to the newly constructed Olympic ice track for the very first time — the same venue that will host the luge, bobsleigh, and skeleton events at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Around 140 athletes from 25 nations are using the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the 1,730-meter-long track and to collect valuable data for the upcoming season. During this exclusive training period, the sliding center remains reserved for the athletes – media representatives and spectators will gain access only during the official test event at the end of November.
With the start of the ITP, the countdown to the Olympic Winter Games 2026 officially begins.
