For Michelle Diepold the season came to an early end

After a training crash on Thursday, Michelle Diepold finished sixth in the luge world cup on natural track in Romania's Vatra Dornei on Sunday. As it turned out after thorough medical examinations in Innsbruck, this achievement had come about under extremely difficult conditions. "It turned out that my ankle was broken in a pretty stupid place. Unfortunately, there was no way around an operation, as the affected area would otherwise remain very unstable,” says the Styrian.

Diepold went under the knife on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the season was over for them. National coach Gerald Kammerlander: “We can assume a break of up to six weeks. So Michelle probably won't be able to race again this winter."

Diepold will not only miss the upcoming World Cup races, but also the European Championships from February 10th to 13th in Laas/Lasa (ITA). The FIL wishes Michelle Diepold a quick recovery.
