The sports world shows great solidarity with the Ukrainian people

Berchtesgaden (FIL) Since the end of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army - two days after the closing ceremony in Beijing - the Olympic movement shows great solidarity and supports the Ukrainian Olympic community.
The leadership of the International Luge Federation FIL reacted immediately and publicly condemned the invasion of Ukraine by the governments of Russia and Belarus in the strongest possible terms.
The international luge family shows its colours

Yellow-blue flags, donations and humanitarian aid, the luge world shows great solidarity with their fellow athletes but also with the people in Ukraine.
In solidarity, Main Street in the Olympic town of Lake Placid (USA) is currently decorated with 20 Ukrainian flags. These blue and yellow flags were purchased on the initiative of former luge athlete and sports official Dimitry Feld, who moved to the USA from Ukraine at the age of 24. The former USA Luge coach and marketing manager tells us: "Ukraine is a democratic country. It is a country that wants to live and prosper under the rule of law, protection and democratic rights and be part of the European Union and NATO. We need to understand that if we don't stand up to this man from Russia, our world will look very different!"
Even from the very top of the starting building of the artificial ice track in Sigulda (Latvia), the Ukrainian flag rather than the Latvian flag has been greeting visitors since the beginning of March 2022. The staff of the Eisarena Königssee (Germany) organised relief supplies and donation transports to Ukraine.

Three-time Olympic champion Felix Loch is a founding member of the association and part of an aid network of athletes called "Athletes for Ukraine". Olympic silver medallist Dajana Eitberger (GER) and Olympic champion David Gleirscher (AUT) also support the association, whose aim is to unite all athletes worldwide to send a signal for peace and solidarity and against war. You can become a member of the association and support the initiative at www.athletes-for-ukraine.de.
