Lake Placid (pps) Erin Hamlin, 2007 World Championship fifth-placed, Tony Benshoof, 2006 Olympic fourth-placed, as well as the two-time Olympic medal winners Mark Grimmette-Brian Martin will head the entries of host USA at the 41st FIL Luge World Championships in Lake Placid in the US state of New York. Thanks to good performances in the Viessmann Luge World Cup, Bengt Walden and the doubles’ with Christian Niccum-Daniel Joye are also qualified for the Worlds.
Julia Clukey, who achieved a brilliant fourth place at the 2007-08 Viessmann Luge World Cup in Lake Placid, won the US team selection and punched the ticket for the Worlds just like Ashley Walden and Anastasia Young. Robert Huerbin, winner of the team selection, and Chris Mazdzer will compete in the men’s singles. In the doubles’ Matt Mortensen-Preston Griffal will represent the US colours in the doubles’ event.
