
Maiden win for Germany's women / Austrian Juniors with a triple-victory
Obdach-Winterleiten (PMA) - The first Junior Luge World Cup on Natural Track of the International Luge Federation (FIL) was held from 2nd to 3rd January in Austria. Styrian track Obdach-Winterleiten was the host of the season opener. 54 athletes from ten different nations participated at the event.
Theresa Maurer from Germany won her first Junior World Cup and secured the first World Cup win for the German ladies in the history of natural track. The 17-year-old from Garmisch-Partenkirchen won in front of Italian Alexandra Pfattner. Third place went also to Germany and Lisa Walch.
Austrian Juniors dominated the men's event. Fabian Achenrainer lead an Austrian one-two-three. The 15-year-old Tyrolean won in front of his team-mates Florian Markt and thomas Hörburger. Fourth place went to New Zealand and Jack Leslie. Italian Philip and Florian Haselrieder placed fifth and sixth.
Second FIL Junior Luge World Cup on Natural Track is hosted at Seiser Alm from 5th to 6th January.
