Oberhof (pps) The upcoming final of the Tiscover Team Relay next Sunday (January 17, 2010 at 13:00 hrs) promises a lot of excitement. After four of the altogether five events the lead of front runners Austria (310 points) amounts to just ten points. Team Germany (300) is on second place with team Canada on third with 295 points.
The situation is relatively simple and easy: Should the red-white-red team celebrate a victory in Oberhof, team Austria will become overall winners with a total of 410 points. Should the four lugers of team Germany win the event, they will boast 400 points and thus earn the top position on the overall rankings. In this case Austria, even with a second place (equivalent of 85 points), could only earn a maximum of 395 points.
Theoretically, team Canada still has a chance to win the overall ranking. Should they celebrate their second season's victory in Oberhof after their success in Innsbruck-Igls, their "account" would amount to 395 points. Austria, as runners-up in Oberhof would then, at best, draw level with Canada. On the other hand, Germany as runners-up could achieve a maximum of 385 points. This is why the Tiscover Team Relay final in Oberhof on Sunday promises a lot of suspense.
