Tourbus pays Czech Republic a visit
Liberec (PMA) - After a successful visit of the tourbus of the International Luge Federation (FIL) at the Czech Republic in 2015 current World Champion Patrick Pigneter (ITA) and the coach of the international training group Matteo Clara paid again a visit in spring. The Czech Republic is one of the youngest nations competing at natural track.
The two Italians started their journey at Smrzovska. The small town is situated at the Jizera Mountains in Northern Czech Republic. It is the centre of Czech luge. Many athletes and coaches are living there and the federation is based at Smrzovka.
„We started at a sports high school. We presented the basics in front of 40 students. After the theoretical part we started to train together at the school yard. Many of them were interested and they also were quite talented”, remembers Patrick Pigneter.
Second stop was at Liberec, who hosted the Nordic World Championships in 2009. 60 interested students listened to the presentation of Patrick and Matteo and took part at the test training. The two Italian experts also visited the local clubs at Tanvald and Liberec. “There are seven active athletes at the Czech Republic. Five of them we discovered at last year’s tourbus. All of them took part at the International Training Week at Kühtai. Big thanks to Tomas Perun, who is fully committed to natural track sport and who has organised the stop in every detail”, tells the eleven-times Overall World Cup winner.
The last stop at the Czech Republic was at Jesenik. Apart from the local club the Polish team from Bielsko-Biala was also invited, who participated at the trainings with four athletes.
