Winterberg (pps) Novelty at the Junior Luge World Cup in Winterberg, Germany: the young doubles’ team with Nico Walther-Nico Gruenneker (Germany) improved the track record, set by Italy’s European champions Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber at the Viessmann Luge World Cup on December 13, 2008, by four hundredths of a second to now 44.106 seconds. With two best times and a total time of 1:28.321 minutes, Walther-Gruenneker also won the junior World Cup.
In the women’s singles, Germany’s young talents grabbed the first five spots with Carina Schwab the winner, followed by Lisa Liebert, runner-up at the FIL Junior Worlds, and Madeleine Teuber on third place. The niece of Thomas Schwab, Secretary General and Sports Director of the German federation, BSD, thus celebrated her third success this season after victories in Koenigssee and Oberhof. In the men’s singles, Ralf Palik achieved a clear advantage of almost six tenths of a second on Julian von Schleinitz and Sascha Benecken (all Germany).
