FIL supports India’s endeavors to build up a luge team

Berchtesgaden (pps) The International Luge Federation (FIL) actively supports the endeavors of the national luge federation of India (IALA) to build up a national luge team. According to information from FIL development manager Ioan Apostol, the FIL will stage a ten-day training course in Nagano, Japan, immediately before the Asia Cup, in which five athletes from India are to participate.

At the beginning of July, the first Summer Camp was held in the Himalayas. It was organized by the Indian Federation on the initiative of India’s three-time Olympian Shiva Keshavan. Altogether 52 young people participated in the five-day training camp held in Manali in the Himalaya Mountains. „I strongly believe that some of the athletes that attended have great potential to become world-class athletes in the future“, said Shiva Keshavan, who competed in the 1998, 1992 and 2006 Olympic Winter Games, and ranked 25th in Turin, this being his personal best result.
