Trophies for the 51st FIL Luge World Championships in Oberhof are made of wood and glass

Oberhof (FIL-TSBV/17 Jan 2022) The trophies for the 51st FIL World Championships in Oberhof are made of wood and glass. Trophies "Made in Thuringia" await the World Champions and placers depending on the discipline.
"We have deliberately chosen trophies made of materials that have a connection to Thuringia. Oak wood from the southern Thuringian Forest and a glass trophy that represents the long craftsmanship of glassblowing combine tradition and modernity in the trophies. In this way, we want to convey to the world our firm ties with the Free State and the people of the region," explains OC head Uwe Theisinger.
The wooden cup, which was developed by the Erfurt-based company "gemeinsam-mit-Holz", features the famous "R" as the Rennsteig symbol. With a laser engraving, which was applied in Ilmenau, the placement is represented.
The winners and runners-up in the women's and men's doubles and women's, men's singles and team relay can look forward to the wooden trophies.
The glass trophies in the shape of a frozen drop of water come from the Thuringian Kristallhof Stadtroda, are handmade and will be handed over during the honors of the Sprint World Championships, which will take place on Friday.
