Turbulent Mixed Event Ends With German Double Victory

Mixed Singles, Lake Placid 2025

3rd EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup in Lake Placid (USA)

Lake Placid (FIL/20 Dec 2025) The mixed race of the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup presented by Sketchers went a little differently than planned on the track in Lake Placid.

The doubles competition had to be canceled due to technical problems. The singles race did not go entirely smoothly either, but in the end, the competition was able to go ahead. It ended with a double victory for Germany. Team 2 with Max Langenhan and Merle Fräbel won in 1:47.611 minutes ahead of Germany 1 with Felix Loch and Julia Taubitz. The two winners of the individual World Cups were 0.134 seconds ahead of Austria 2 with the duo Jonas Müller/Dorothea Schwarz, who were 0.356 seconds slower. Fourth place went to USA 2 with Tucker West/Summer Britcher (0.380 seconds behind).

“It was very difficult with all the back and forth,” said Max Langenhan, “but in the end we raced and it's nice to go into the Christmas break with a victory.” For Dorothea Schwarz, it was a first: “It was my first mixed event and I made it onto the podium straight away,” said the Austrian, “I'm super happy with the result.”

After the race, Matthias Böhmer, Sports Director of the International Luge Federation (FIL), apologized to all athletes, coaches, and support staff and thanked them for their flexibility and understanding. He said he would investigate the reasons for the delay and provide information before the next race of the EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup in Sigulda.
