Altenberg (pps) The journey is free, tickets have long since been booked and even catering services are included: two busses, packed full with luge fans who will certainly provide a great atmosphere at the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Altenberg. It is the manager of the “teuto” company, Karl-Heinz Grueber, who founded the so-called “teuto fan club” before the start of the new season and thus provided this remarkable opportunity. “We don’t want to make money with it. It’s our goal to support the fans,” is how Grueber explains his backup. Additionally, he sponsors a dozen luge athletes from the Oberhof training center, headed by Olympic and four-time World Champion Tatjana Huefner and Olympic silver medalist and two-time World Champion David Moeller as well as Toni Eggert-Sascha Benecken, the current World runner-up in doubles. All fans will be outfitted with caps, scarves and flags. The fan club already counts about 1,000 members. According to Grueber, the „fan fun” will cost him about 200,000 Euros, which is the equivalent of US$260,000. In the pre-Olympic season another two fan journeys are planned: one to Oberhof with no less than five busses and then to Winterberg with two.
