Alex Gough and Walker Snith in front Innsbruck-Igls (pps) The Nationscup at the season’s opener of Viessmann Luge World Cup at Igls/Austria ended with two Canadian and one Latvian Victories. Alex Gough Bronze Medalist of the 2011 World Championships won with the new track record of40.210 seconds. Seconds place went to Aileen Frisch of Germany, last Winter World Champion of the juniors. Julia Clukey (USA) finished on fourth place behind Germany’s Corinna Martini, who is an additional starter and not qualified for the World Cup race on Saturday.

Double’s race was won by Canada’s Tristan Walker/Justin Snith. Places two and three went to Germany’s Nico Grüßner/Toni Förtsch and Ludwig Rieder/Patrick Rastner from Italy. Latvia’s Inars Kivlenieks captured the victory in men’s race. Second place went to Canada’s Sam Edney followed by Chris Mazdzer from the USA.
