Two equally good runs: Dominik Fischnaller wins in Park City

Podium Männer, Park City 2022

Park City (FIL/16 Dec 2022) The Olympic track in Park City once again proved to be challenging. Especially the first curves after the start. "The curves at the top are a bit weird," Dominik Fischnaller described the critical spot, "at the bobsleigh start it gets a bit tight, so it will be difficult." Nevertheless, the Italian was able to win the EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup on the 2002 Olympic track in Utah Olympic Park with two even runs in 1:30.068 minutes.

"I really like the track," said the South Tyrolean, "I became junior World champion on it. That's why I like being here." Second, 185 thousandths of a second behind, was Felix Loch. "Except for curve two, where it didn't really work out twice," the German complained a little, "otherwise it was a really good race." In the second run, he lost out on the victory by finishing with the seventh-best run time (45.200 seconds). The big lapse was David Gleirscher in the first run (45.219). After that the Austrian improved and was able to finish on the podium.

Tucker West was 43 thousandths of a second off third place. He was thus best in the America-Pacific-Championship and caught up with his US teammate Chris Mazder. Both have won the championship four times each. West set the fastest time in both runs. Mazdzer finished second. Australian Alexander Ferlazzo finished third.

The big surprise in the first heat was Slovakia's Josef Ninis. The 41-year-old veteran managed the fastest run in 45.034 seconds. As he had done once before in 2018. But also this time he could not repeat his performance in the second run and still fell back to the eighth position.
