Two Youth A World Cups / Continental Cups to qualify for the YOG in Oberhof

Oberhof (FIL/07 Dec 2023) Eleven months after the 2023 FIL World Championships, international luge athletes will be back on the World Championship’s track in Oberhof (GER). This time, it's the juniors who will fight for valuable points to qualify for the 2024 Youth Olympic Winter Games (YOG) in Gangwon, South Korea.

From December 8 to 10, 2023, two Youth A World Cups / Continental Cups will be held on the Rennsteig luge track. 

The 150 young athletes between the ages of 14 and 17 who will compete in the two Continental Cups in Oberhof next weekend come from 24 nations.

Uwe Theisinger, sports director of the Thüringer Bob- and Luge Federation (TSBV), is pleased: "It's all about the qualification for the YOG. These will be held in South Korea in January 2024. Therefore, the starting field on our track is very big. We even have athletes from Thailand and Mexico. We are delighted that this competition will once again demonstrate the importance of investing in infrastructure for the future of the sport. We are very proud to host these competitions for young athletes.

On Wednesday, December 7, 2023, an anti-doping seminar for all young lugers took place in Oberhof. Here, the young athletes were informed in detail.

All winter sports enthusiasts, luge fans and interested parties are welcome to attend the competitions and training sessions free of charge.
