Uğur Erdener new President of SportAccord - Einars Fogelis on the Executive Board

Lausanne (FIL/16 Nov 2023) Uğur Erdener has been President of the International Federation of World Archery since 2005 and a member of the IOC since 2008. The medical professional Erdener will now also head SportAccord for four years and will be supported by his seven colleagues in the new Executive Committee, including FIL President Einars Fogelis.

The SportAccord General Assembly on November 14 confirmed the Executive Committee as follows:

Uğur Erdener (TUR) - ASOIF Representative President of World Archery (WA)

Ingmar De Vos (BEL) - ASOIF Representative President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI)

Petra Sörling (SWE) - ASOIF representative President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)

Einars Fogelis (LAT) - AIOWF Representative President of the International Luge Federation (FIL)

Beau Welling (USA) - AIOWF Representative President of the World Curling Federation (WCF)

Anna Arzhanova (RUS - SER) - Representative of ARISF President of the World Diving Federation (CMAS)

Riccardo Fraccari (ITA) - ARISF Representative President of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC)

Stefan Fox (GER) - Representative of AIMS Secretary General of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA)

The General Assembly also ratified the new Statutes under which SportAccord will operate under the supervision and control of the International Federations, which is also reflected in the new composition of the Executive Committee.

Erdener said: "I appreciate the confidence of my colleagues and look forward to serving SportAccord as President for the next four years. I am grateful to my friend Ivo Ferriani for the work he has done over the past two years to transform SportAccord, and to my Executive Committee colleagues Ingmar De Vos, Francesco Ricci Bitti and Luc Tardif.”

Erdener succeeds Ivo Ferriani, President of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) and the AIOWF.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the President of our sister federation, the IBSF, and wish his successor all the best for his term of office, which I have the privilege to help shape. I am grateful to my colleagues for the trust they have placed in me," said Einars Fogelis.

SportAccord hosted the IF Forum 2023, which began on November 13 and ended on Tuesday, November 15 at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
