Update on FIL International Training Weeks in Yanqing, China

Yanqing (FIL) In preparation for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, which will start in three months' time, International Training Weeks (ITW) on the new Olympic track at the Yanqing National Sliding Center are currently underway for international luge athletes.
On this occasion, all lugers will look to gain extensive experience on the new track. The start of the EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup 2021/22 will also take place as a test event immediately after the international training from 19 to 21 November in the Yanqing course.
International teams comprising almost 250 people travelled from Frankfurt (GER) to Beijing (CHN) on a charter flight on 3 November 2021. All the athletes, coaches and support staff departing from Frankfurt had tested negative for COVID-19 with a PCR test at the airport in Germany and were fully vaccinated.

Following the identification of an asymptomatic case on arrival, which was identified thanks to the screening process on arrival that is part of the comprehensive COVID-19 protocols in place for the events, the FIL, in collaboration with the local organisers are enacting the Beijing 2022 Playbooks and the agreed upon protocols to ensure that the training week and test event can continue in a safe and secure manner.
All training activities that were planned for 5 and 6 November at the circuit have therefore been cancelled. The teams and athletes will begin the training week on 7 November. All participants in the ITW and at the test event will continue to receive daily PCR tests and will continue to follow the necessary COVID-19 protocols. All PCR tests on 6 November have been negative.
