US-Luge presents new Start Ramps in Lake Placid

Start Rampe

Lake Placid (RWH) The US Luge Association (USLA) presented its new start facility in Lake Placid with a virtual video tour. According to the USLA, the new facility has two start ramps, which are located next to each other and are each about 50 meters long. Athletes can use both ramps in any direction, so four different starting positions can be simulated. In contrast to the previous facility, the athletes can now also train the depositing on the sled after the start phase.

USLA applied for and received a total of five million dollar from the US State of New York for this project. This sum was made available to ORDA (Olympic Regional Development Authority), the operating company for the subsequent use of the Olympic facilities. ORDA also managed the construction of the new training center, which includes workshops and personnel offices.
