US team takes maiden victory in team relay

Lake Placid (RWH) All good things come in threes. After a one-two finish in the men’s singles and triple success in the women’s event, US lugers celebrated a third historic victory as the Viessmann World Cup drew to a close. The host team’s line-up of Erin Hamlin, Chris Mazdzer and Justin Krewson/Andrew Sherk took their first ever victory in the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW.

The Latvian team of Eliza Cauce, Inars Kivlenieks and Andris Sics/Juris Sics finished second. Third place went to the Russian quartet of Tatiana Ivanova, Semen Pavlichenko and Andrey Bogdanov/Andrey Madvedev.

The German team, winners of the season opener in Innsbruck, had to settle for seventh place after a driving error from doubles pairing Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken. Natalie Geisenberger and Julian von Schleinitz completed the team.
