Lake Placid (pps) World Champion Erin Hamlin, Bengt Walden, the sixth-placer at the World Championships, and Mark Grimmette/Brian Martin, World Championships bronze medalists in doubles, have been announced “Athletes of the Year” by United States Luge Association (USLA).
The 23 year-old Erin Hamlin, the first-ever female World Champion in USA Luge history, successfully defended her last year’s title as „Athlete of the Year“. Bengt Walden received the award for the second time after 2008. Grimmette/Martin claimed the Athletes of the Year title for the sixth time in their career.
The athletes and staff of USA Luge select the Athletes of the Year in a voting process.
