Lake Placid (pps) The USA Luge Executive Board has accepted the resignation of Ron Rossi as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer. This was announced on Wednesday (March 6) in a press release by USA Luge. Ron Rossi served USA Luge as Executive Director for 28 years. Rossi is a 1984 Olympian, becoming the first American luger to finish in the top 10 at the Olympic Games. Ron served the organization as an Athlete’s Representative on the National Luge Committee, the Executive Board, and on the National Team Committee. Rossi oversaw the growth of USA Luge, culminating with its highest achievements to date, Olympic medals in both the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympic Winter Games. With the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, next February and the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the Executive Board decided to move the organization in a new direction in order to maximize the team’s chances of success at these and other major competitions. An Interim Executive Director will be appointed while the Executive Board conducts a search for a highly qualified and experienced individual to lead the staff toward success at luge races around the globe.
