USA Luge Season Kick-Off Event

Lake Placid, NY (FIL/30 Oct 2023) In one month's time, on Friday, December 1, 2023, Lake Placid will host an international start competition as a "season kick-off" at the US Luge Start Complex on Church Street in Lake Placid.

A total of 8,000 euros in prize money will be up for grabs for the athletes.

Each sled completes two starts, a normal luge start and a reaction start with a start gate as used in the Team Relay. The two start ramps have a different slope, which adds variety to the competition. The start times of the two runs will be added to the total time. All national teams may enter two sleds per event in men's and women's singles and doubles.

The "USA Luge Season Kick-Off-Startevent" is the season opener before the 1st EBERSPAECHER World Cup in Lake Placid/USA. The event is organized by the International Luge Federation (FIL) together with USA Luge.

The focus of this event is not only the sporting competition of the luge athletes, but also the social gathering of the entire luge family in the beautiful, pre-Christmas North American flair of Lake Placid.

The "FIL Studio" will provide extensive on-site coverage as well as background information via YouTube and social media.

The first three athletes in each event will receive prize money.
