USA Luge team nominated for Olympic season 2021/22

Lake Placid (FIL) Fourteen athletes with a good mix of experienced Olympians and young ambitious athletes will represent the U.S. national luge team in the 2021/22 Olympic winter.

The national team will be led by 2018 Winter Olympics silver medalist Chris Mazdzer and complemented by 2019 World Championships bronze medalist Emily Sweeney, five-time World Cup champion Summer Britcher, three-time World Cup champion Tucker West and World Championships medalist Jayson Terdiman.

Summer Britcher, Tucker West and the doubles team of Mazdzer / Terdiman earned a bronze medal in the team relay at the 2020 World Championships and finished fourth in the team relay at the World Championships in the COVID-shortened 2021 season.

Also named to the squad for the Olympic season was 2020 FIL Nations Cup overall winner Jonny Gustafson, as well as Brittney Arndt and Ashley Farquharson. 

Gustafson and Arndt recorded their first top-10 World Cup results in the 2019 winter season, while Farquharson was a bronze medalist at the 2021 U23 World Championships.

All of the nominated athletes are candidates for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. 
USA Luge will nominate its Olympic squad on Jan. 10 after the seventh EBERSPÄCHER World Cup in Sigulda, Latvia.
