Berchtesgaden (RWH) The International Luge Federation (FIL) has no need to baulk at being compared to a medium-sized company. “In 2013/2014, the FIL processed a total of 4,400 accounting transactions. This is a commercial indication that we are comparable to a medium-sized company,” said the Vice President of Finance in an interview with FIL Press. Steyrer, who has been the FIL’s “finance minister” for some 18 years, described the “continuous, businesslike, balanced, and rather conservative financial policy of the FIL”, which bears the hallmarks of President Josef Fendt, as an “ongoing challenge”. This fiscal policy really paid off during the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009. “We can be proud that the FIL not only didn’t lose money in these difficult times, but actually managed to increase its invested capital, albeit only slightly”, said Steyrer.
